My 71 W200 with 440 has a pulley about the size of the crank pulley (they damn near touch) and it cools fine. This is the factory stuff off of the orig 383. An aqaintence of mine had a heating problem with his 77 440 power(ed) wagon, and he put on a larger pulley than it had and beleive it or not it cured it.
