I bought a 1963 Land Cruiser that had a 283 in it. I really liked the combination, and wish I still had it. Only problem was the dummy who owned it before me used a long strip of an old t shirt in place of the front main seal. I wondered why it leaked so badly from there. Once I put the correct seal in there it was great.
