You can bend the hinges to help align the doors, there are no shims available, and there isn't a whole lot of room for a shim anyway. If you have to tighten the pin hole stick a pin in so you don't drive the metal too far. The hinges are tempered so the metal doesn't move to easy, just take your time with them. The inner side of the inner latch tooth should line up with the side of the striker. If you can take some pictures and post that would be helpful, a 1/2 inch is very wide maybe something else could be at play here.
