On the other guides were probably knurled by the machinist, standard procedure, so they s/b fine. I would say the clearance is ok for the exhaust valves for now, check after 1,000 miles. The ticking does sound like excess clearance on the tappets, how is the oil pressure at idle, 40Lbs.?
