I've run electric pumps for a long time, very dependable. Buy an all-metal pump, stay away from the black plastic covered ones like the one in the image, they tend to leak. You'll also want to install a kill switch so when the engine stalls, the pump stops working, it's based on oil pressure, see PIF electrical section for parts and wiring. You can also wire in a primer switch to prime the carb when the truck sits for extended periods.
