Yes you can take the 230 water pump and bolt it to the 251 block. But the arrangement of the pump makes it and the fan sit a lot higher than the 251 pump and fan, making it interfere with the upper radiator tank. The upside is that it doesn't stick out in front of the engine as far as the 251 pieces. So there's a trade-off.
