1) if your truck has a ballast resistor, bypass it temporarily to see if it is bad, or has a loose connection. They get real hot when running, and can open up when hot. Also squeeze the push on terminals with some pliers to make them fit tighter on the tabs.

2) it’s possible you have a valve or two sticking open when the valve fully opens. The next time the problem exists, pull your spark plugs and have a friend crank the starter. Put your thumb over each spark plug hole as it is cranking, to see if one cylinder has low or no compression. This can happen if you don’t drive the truck often, as rust will form on the valve stem. The rust will get forced up into the valve guide and cause the valve to stick open. After it cools, and shrinks it will free up and begin working again.
