Rear axle shafts

Greetings all,
I have a centered differential rear axle from a WC-54 in my B-3-PW. I will soon be taking the differential out to change out the ring and pinion gears, so that would be the time to also replace the current axle shafts which have corrosion on the splines. My question for y�all is: can the axle shafts from a B-1-D (1-ton 2 wheel drive) replace the shafts from a WC-54. It looks to me as though this is possible if the B-1-D shafts are shortened by ~ � �. Has anyone tried this?
