I think I need a pad material that has a flexible coating that will relax when you remove the firewall clips to get access to the bolts to replace the clutch MC or booster. Carboard is too ridged and pad material that has a sticky back may not work either. Maybe something exotic like crocodile with some type of pading :=0. Thanks Steve!
