If all the above fixes do not seem to cure the problem take it for a run for about 5 miles or so and then shut it off and pull a plug to check for a lean condition. unless you have access to an exhaust analyzer. running too lean will cause the engine to overheat. i.e. too small of carb, wrong jets, etc. I have had a couple of engines that had that problem.
