for a long time i used the blocks as furnished but yes, like you mentioned under the right soil conditions and slope the chains in the center running to the frame would indeed rotate the blocks in axis to the tires, yet i never had any occasion to over run or come off the blocks although i came close a few times! for a long time i used the factory tie down loops on the m-37 on lighter pulls, and finally made some banjo eye plates i installed under the frame on the ffpw, through the years things got bent but i never had a failure except for a few shear pins! in fact, the blocks i have on the trucks now are original w/ ctr chains! never got around to modifying them! that mix truck could have been a good challenge for your rigs! the heaviest and surprising pull i ever had was a cat d8 in 2ft of bottomless mud, i pulled it out with a holmes 500 wrecker (rated 5 tons per winch x2) on a 1971 W300! used 3 snatch blocks on both lines, one rigged from the wrecker mast the other off the loop on the bed, the front end of the dodge was off the ground about 2ft! she finally came out! using 3/8 fcwr on each winch! lots of popping and tension but no breaks! its all in the rigging! and a tough dodge truck!
