I had an experience like Tim with Broadway years ago. Back then it was cheaper.
One slight clarification to what he said; Broadway utilized that Alabama (and now Maine.?) at that time did not issue titles on older vehicles, they issued a state paper that was a sort of registration. So, after the you “sell “ it to them, they get it registered and “sell “ it back to you,. You then take this Alabama legal document to your states office. There is a tradition that the states recognize each others laws to an extent with vehicle registration.
Voila you get a title in your state,
In doing so I “educated” my local DMV lady who had no idea this was a legal solution!
If I had not gone this route I could never have gotten a title in Maryland without having a lawyer file a legal application in the court!
So, depending on your state what Broadway charges now may still be cheaper.
