I have no experience with first and second series beds, but I know I found when I was building the third series bed for my 6x6.

I hoped to find the "right style" anchor bolts for my bed, but never did. The closest thing I found were bridge bolts, that have a larger, flatter head than regular carriage bolts. They have knife edge ribs under the head to keep the bolt from spinning when tightened, which may need to be trimmed if you are using washers. Otherwise they appear to be a good match. The step bolts that Clint showed are the right style, but do not appear to be big enough or long enough to fasten the bed to the frame. In the end I used all stainless steel fasteners on my bed, and was forced to use regular carriage bolts to anchor the bed.
