I have a 98-1/2 24 valve 3/4 ton quad cab 4x4 and it is BOMBED. I have no pump problems, my valves wont require a look see until 100,000 miles, and my warranty is good til then also. Will pull whatever you hook it to with ease. Walks away from poor strokes and Duraminis if they are stock. I have opinions, and they sometimes come across strong, but Im truthful. The 12 valve WILL get better fuel economy, CAN be BOMBED less expensively, and the AUTO doesnt like over 400 horsepower to it under load. (215-235 is stock) Im around 420 on the dyno, and my auto is fine, but I drive it sensibly and am careful with a load on the gooseneck. I do like the expression on the mustang and camaro drivers faces when I leave them at a light though!!!! Particularly when they have their window down on my exhaust side!!! DO NOT get 4.10 gears unless your driving is 60-70% towing. They suck running empty and while the 24 valve likes rpms, you are just wearing the motor out. Im good til 250,000 with mine if all goes according to plan. Plan on spending extra bucks on air filters, oil and filters, fuel filters, tranny fluid and filters, etc if you want it to last.
