Oh my gosh!!! That is hilarious!

I was using a hand held impact driver on the four screws that hold the door latch to the jamb, and on the first screw I was only watching to see if the screw was moving and jamb metal actually sheared and bent inwards. Now I have to weld up the jamb at the mounting area for the latch, and I still don't know exactly how I am going to do it. The four holes in the jamb are bent to be countersinks to insure that the screws mount flush. Do I bend the counter sink before I weld or after or what? I don't think anyone is going to have a good answer for that. I think it is one of those things that you try one thing, hope for the best, and if it doesn't work out, you try another.

Back to the lock. Maybe it is best to drill out the lock and fill in the hole? I don't keep anything in my cars worth stealing. And these days, the best anti-theft device is a manual transmission. Can you imagine some 18 year old trying to deal with a non-synchro transmission? And my PW is a '47, so it has a foot push button starter. Can you imagine the frustration?
