Hey Jerry, I would drill the handle oversize and install a piece of steel tube the same length as the handle in the hole. Then put a lockwasher under the nut. Now when you tighten the nut, the lockwasher will have something to run down onto that won't compress like the wood does. That should fix it permanently.
