actually, what causes failure of the pivot bracket is stress by using a bar to pry the declutch lever in or out...usually because the clutch dog is dry and bound to the drum shaft, yes, the dog has tapered lock tabs to engage drum but if it all is lubricated properly to declutch you just rock the drum with one hand while declutching. under pressure the strain is completely on the dog and no stress is on the declutch lever, dirt and old grease build up will cause a lot of problems, dont forget a shot or two of grease on the zerks on each end of the drum periodiclly never use a bar or other equalizer to try and move the declutc lever! it should operate with ease.
