At 74, "Ditto" with the Knee & Leg problem.
Last year I started looking for a solution and 'googled' / (ebay) "Cable Steps". Choose a 12" Ht. step and it worked fine.
I 'braced'the the running board with 1/8" plate running the depth of the step, bent / broke at 90 Degrees on the outside edge and drilled to fit the underside of the running boards.
With the steel plate, the pair wasn't cheap - But everyone who has seen these on our FF'62 has made compliments on the installation.
