If all the dimensions are recorrect other than the thickness, it will be good to go
For example:
If your old seal was 1/2" thick and the new one is 3/8" it will move the seal point on the shaft to another area (1/16" over), making it even a better seal since the seal will ride on the original full size of the shaft as it was made for, not in the old worn area of the shaft
