A fellow woodworker! My favorite finish is nitrocellulose lacquer, and I like to take my material down to 320 and tack with a cloth with lacquer thinner. I don't have a handy photo of any furniture that I finished with lacquer, so I am attaching a photo of the last piece of "furniture" I built. Oddly, the most challenging aspect of the stairs were the inner handrails. They have two foot radii, and since I had never built stairs, I had no idea that you don't make two foot radius handrails, in a helical curve.
