I switched to copper nickel line awhile back - sure bends easier than steel and it lasts much longer.
The other trick is to put a dab of grease between the fitting and the tube (not in the line) which helps when taking the line off at a later time.
also teflon tape on the threads - not to seal- but to help when taking a part off at a later date.
Yes these little tricks work - but they add time and you need to do it with care and not get anything in the tube.
