I was getting deep fry oil from a friend till he closed his restaurant, that was when I started using ATF more regularly.
Both need filtering but oil needs more time to allow moisture to settle to bottom, or bring it to about 220*f to boil out moisture. when allowing to set the carbon attaches to water, so I leave bottom 6-8 inches alone and boil that, reducing time and energy before use. I have 3 55 gal drums I transfer them through as time does most purifying, use cloth as filter then transfer pump filter into spare fuel tank of truck then into truck itself
