My 2 cents worth:

A 60 MPH lockup probably has catastrophic damage internally in the gearbox, even if you didn't see particles in the oil.

My advice would be to disassemble and inspect everything before just buying bearings, seals and gaskets. You might get lucky, but I doubt it.
