Some parts you have no choice but to go with a universal part. Only go universal when the "Right Part" is not available.

As far as service counter young employees, it's computers only. Most of the online apps related to vehicles require make, model, engine, sub-model, etc., so if your looking for a part and it doesn't fit the any of the search criteria, your out of luck. Sad things is, most places will be able to get the part you need, but not for the older vehicle you have. This is when the parts manual, old catalogs become invaluable to you in searching for parts. Old numbers go forward, new numbers for the same part usually don't go back when locating parts for a vehicle.
