In the 1942 and 1943 Tables of Organization (TO, and the modern term is Table of Organization and Equipment or TO&E) which lists all vehicles and equipment for Medical Units, there were several command cars at designated to be issued at battalion and regimental level. These TO's are not definitive, but most units which deployed in 1942 and 1943 were filled out with equipment using them. There were subsequent modifications of equipment issued overseas, but by this photo, obviously one unit kept its command car!
