Interesting. My F350 is rated for 14k. I license it for less than that. With a fully loaded camper on it I am around 13.5k. No problem if I get pulled over. In Washington the camper is licensed to carry it’s own weight. However, they could cite me if I exceed GVWR with the camper on it.

What is also kind of weird, my camper does not have its own insurance policy but it’s a rider on my truck insurance. This year I had a new roof membrane put on my camper. A tree branch pierced the roof, during a wind storm while sitting in my driveway. Water got to the plywood underneath. $7K to have it done. I turned in the estimate to my insurance company and the guy couldn’t find the policy for it. I said it’s a rider on the truck policy. He said all he could find is a policy for a trailer made buy that manufacture. He had to contact the main office. He comes back and said they found it and said a big mistake had happened. Later I get a bill asking for more money for my truck insurance which my insurance guy says don’t pay. But the adjuster sure wanted a lot of pictures of it and the vin and etc. My agent said they apparently dropped the rider for the camper when I bought a 5th wheel from the same manufacture. I said I never requested a cancellation as I have both and use them often. They paid the claim as it was the same camper that I had insured 14 years ago and had been paying premiums for years. Whoops. The rider is dirt cheap, but the extra billing was for the 3+ years of coverage after they canceled. Which I never paid.
