as an "old" tireman i think it is a good idea
have to mount some on one of mine & will use it will act as "o" ring to avoid rust
yes have to use LIBERAL AMOUNTS OF TIRE TALC
when installing tubes & flaps in tire
wip inside of tire clean, clean tubes and flaps of course before talcing
we always used "MURPHYS" tire soap when assembling - never did it dry but might work
with clean wheels & tire beads
