I've never done it but I don't think you have to or want to separate the upper and lower to change the gasket. You would only want to separate the upper and lower to replace the glass. The gasket can be pulled out and a new one jammed in. The M37 page had posts on that gasket and I believe the lubricated popsicle stick was the tool of choice to jam the new gasket in. I looked at my pw frame while considering new glass and decided against dismantling. Stuck screws helped that decision plus I'm not sure how much is rusted from the inside.
