I was lucky to find one in the 318LA I freshened up for my M37. It's quite similar to the 340 forged steel crank, but the 340 has hollowed out journals to run heavier rods. This 318 forged steel crank is also listed as the same crank for the 676 273. It is not the same as the 64-66 273 forged steel crank. Despite the density and hence weight difference, the balance between the 318 forged steel crank and the cast iron crank is the same. Thus they are interchangable with the standard rods.

BTW, my 318 is punched .060 over. That makes it a 327. I get a chuckle thinking how to rib the Chevy boys with that. Imagine that, a long living, reliable 327!
