I have a '77 M880 and had a lot of odd electrical problems from day one. Lights would dim etc. at idle. Tested, grounded, bought new parts, etc. Finally bypassed the amp guage and all was good. Probably doesn't hurt to have the extra ground wires, I also had to replace the engine compartment wiring harness, mine had gotten so hot before I bought it hat a lot of the wires wire bare with melted insulaton. Saturn Surplus has this harness real cheap.
