If you are gona run the truck in the sand and mud you need a V8. I am a die hard diesel fan but they dont cut it in the mud. If i was gona use a small block mopar, I would use a 340 with the mopar 4" stroker crank, which comes out to about 416" small block. With right cam can get HP and TQ. Then when it runs like a raped ape you just tell the ford and chevy guys its a stock 318
