Are torque numbers realistic, contemplating similar set up.

I am torn between a diesel and a chevy 383. The 383 is rated at 330 hp and 415 ft/ lbs. With the peak torque at 3500 rpm. How does this compare. The 4 BT with a chevy bell housing seemed like the easiest way to go diesel. I see a lot of the 6.5 Chevy on the Big electric site, but I don't know about trying that. The fit would be awful tight. Was looking at the bread van cut outs. If they weren't too tired, the price seems reasonable.

Is over 400 lbs realistic for the 4bt and what is involved to get it up to that level. Also with the higher level, does that create problems with the exhaust gas temperature.

I have a 4l80 and was contemplating Jets gear splitter if I go with the diesel. I would assume that you set your gears by what you want your reasonable top speed to be and go from that.

My PW has a worn 360 and non synchro transmission, so I would be changing both.

Like many others, thanks for your imput.
