I got my parts from Mar K. Since I was planning to paint the bed wood black, I used poplar. Bought a cheap router table and milled the groves for the strips. We all know paint is a carpenter's best friend and I am no carpenter.Mar K has a good write up on which paint lasts and they did various weather tests.
