Oh, I didn't mention it, but headlights, taillights, window motors e.t.c are all working. I have a bad instrument cluster that controls who knows what. My washer motor and the ABS pump both want to come on so I may have some short where those systems cross, but I wouldn't expect those to cause a welding arc when hooking up the batteries.... at least not without smoke.
