My 12-foot single axle trailer came new with LED lights. When I first realized this, I thought it was going to be a problem as I knew I would occasionally want to tow it behind my WDX, which is 6-volt, and the trailer is 12-volt of course. Incandescent bulbs are quick and easy to change, but not the sealed LED.
Before giving up, I plugged the trailer into the WDX and was surprised to find that the 12-volt LED bulbs work just fine on 6-volts. They are even noticeably brighter than the 6-volt tail lights on the truck.
