I have a Mile Marker hydraulic winch on my '06 Dodge 2500 CTD. It uses the factory pump.
Knowing what I know about Paul's work, he no doubt scrupulously researched this project before entering into it. If I were adding a winch to a PW, or any other truck, and absolute originality was not an issue, I would absolutely go with hydraulic, following Paul's program.
