Why are some companies so poor at customer service?

I have a Black Box reduction box running behind my transmission - it needs some parts replaced - one unique to the Black box - the company told me they would call last Wednesday - of course there was no call - i am now trying to get hold of them and no one answers the phone. Some of the worst service i have ever had. I could switch to a Klune or try another company for a brand new unit but that will cost me about 3 grand by the time it gets to my door. Very aggravating when you have to deal with stuff like this.
