I had a friend who had a van that constantly would die not start and lights would go out. He asked me to look at it because the dealer and others couldn’t figure it out. The battery connections were good. So I started following the grounds. There was a cable from the battery to one point then another from there to another point. It was a real mess of ground straps. I found one point in the middle that was loose and therefore intermittent. I tightened it up and he never had problems again. It appears that the frame was not grounded to the engine and the electrical system was not grounded to either of those. They were only grounded together by a series of ground straps. Once one ground point had issues it took everything down.
