Pretty crazy for us. We're not used to that kind of weather. In my area, we got 3 - 5" of snow from the two storms that rolled through, which isn't that much, but other people not far away got quite a bit more than that. But the snow is not what got us. The cold temps really did it. One website said we got down to -2 degrees F. We were well below freezing for more than a week, almost the entire time. There was one or two days when we got up to or slightly over 32 for a couple of hours, but for practical purposes, we were below freezing for over a week, and most of that time was WELL below freezing (10 - 30 degs below freezing). For a few days, it didn't get above 10 or 15 degs.

The power at our house was on for an hour and off for an hour (roughly), over and over, for 3 days. Fortunately, that was enough to keep temps up to the mid-60's. We were without water for about a day, but I had filled a bunch of pots amd pans with water beforehand, including an 8-gallon pot I use for homebrewing, so we've been fine. No broken pipes either, as far as I can tell. Other people did not have power for 3 or 4 days (a few still don't), and have been without water for a few days. Many stories of broken pipes too. At our house, we now have water, but we have to boil it before drinking, cooking, washing our hands, brushing our teeth, etc. The city's water tanks are finally up to the level where we can shower this evening, do dishes, laundry, etc. But still gotta boil for the things I mentioned above. I usually look forward to snow and cold snaps here in Texas, but the past week is making me temper my enthusiasm a bit.

Hopefully the folks in charge of our energy production will make changes to be better prepared for these things in the future.

I appreciate your asking about us.
