Worked in the oil patch and realized that no one above the 45th parallel would survive the winter without fossil fuels. Oil, Gas, Coal -- all work for heating. Not wind or solar.

Nuclear would work but too much opposition still -- submarines are safe and nuclear. France is mostly nuclear for heating.
