After soaking the rectangular washer in PB, putting the threaded post between two blocks of wood in the vice, heating it with a burnzomatic, and methodically tapping each side with a flathead and hammer, the washer worked its way off of the squared post. After that the gasket install was very easy. Start on the end with the strike plate for the vent window latch. Thread the plate through the slit in the gasket as your first reference point. I lubed the inside of the channel with WD, and just used a pair of pliers to work the gasket into the channel. If you are worried about marring the back of the channel, tape it or use rubber pliers.
