Theres an old guy in town here who has a dirt company and a lot of big equipment. He does all his repairs. When I had a cracked head on my tractor he told me to dig a hole in my yard and dump a sack of charcoal in it and light it. Get it good and hot and put the head down in it. Let the head cook and get hot from the charcoal. Then weld up my crack and then cover the head completely with another bag or 2 of charcoal and let it slowly burn the charcoal up and cool down slow. Said cover it and forget it til morning. Said its tough to be close to the head to weld from the heat and fumes but will work great!HA!
