Broken exhaust manifolds with turbos is quite common. When i went to compound turbos I built a support to carry the weight of the second turbo. The support does allow movement for expansion and contraction horizontally but not vertically - we shall see how that works. When I first fired up the truck there where all kinds of noises very similar to when you over heat your wood stove - but the noises have never repeated. Some turbo supports use spherical rod ends - If I was doing it again I would go that route.
