You've increased the heat on the manifold metal by the rap, which causes it to expand/contract more. That results in continued metal fatigue, that over time, will cause the manifold to crack.
To repair it, I would use MG200 or 250 stick rod, tack weld the manifold while it is still bolted to the block, then remove the manifold to complete the weld. The MG stick rod/weld contracts and expands at the same rate as the cast iron and will prevent future cracks. Before you tack weld, clean the impurities off the cast iron via grinder.
