if this is a 46 to 68 PW and you replaced with a plastic housing cable, it could be melting. The stock cable routing on FFPWs is ver close to the exhaust. best to find an all metal housing for these trucks.
When the plastic melts is either quickly or gradually starts to bind up the cable. depends on how close to exhaust it is.
