I sure don’t know where you guys were finding good trucks for $500. So here’s my PW history. The first one I bought was the first year of EBay....so I guess that would be roughly 1995. I paid $2k for a complete WDX with a rusty floor & it had hit a tree...not running but complete with bed...no body parts usable except doors.
So I bought a parts truck in OR that had had the roof cut off. It ran great & it was $2k...ebay also.
So my first attraction to the power wagon was in about 1980. I drove at age 16 from Vancouver to CA. On route, I passed Herb Hobie’s trucks near Rosberg, OR. He used to line them up along I5 with for sale signs at a logging truck site. Nothing ever under $4k...in 1980! And I obviously couldn’t afford that at 16. He had them ranging from $4k for a nice old restorable original to around $8k for a nice straight original truck.
That was 40 years ago! :)
Now I’m sure there were trucks for $500 but they weren’t easy to find or believe me...I’d a had a few at 16 :)
