I will be needing a couple of these seals soon myself. I just learned this morning, as I was tearing the truck apart to replace all the brake cylinders, hard lines, and hoses, that my front axle seals have been leaking gear lube. It has diluted the grease in the steering knuckles and in the wheel bearings and is now leaking out the rear of the hubs and into the brake drums.

Keeping in mind what the part number prefixes mean/meant - "41" = reinforced double lip, "45" reinforced single lip, "47" non-reinforced double lip, and "48" non-reinforced single lip, I would suggest the following:

If wanting a thick seal with double lips, It appears that the only option would be 470451 if the 410451 is no longer available, but it is not reinforced. If not concerned about double lips, I would go for the 450451 which is reinforced and single lip. If not concerned about either double lips or reinforcement, there is the 480451.

There is also single lip non reinforced seals in thinner widths: 480991 at .375 thickness, and 480630 at .250 thickness.

I just supplied the information and Phil created the chart and graphics. We will have to see what it would take to make changes.

Hopefully some of these numbers are still available. I will keep everyone posted as I purchase seals for my truck.

Junior
