The guys make them out of different material, rubber being the most common. VPW sells some and you can buy shims (1/4) from them as well to get the height you need. Dodge changed to rubber in the early 50's. I have the big spur gear tranny, so I use Industrial Rubber you may be able to buy local if you have rubber companies in your area. I buy rubber two inches thick, cut to squares (3x3), so you might want to start with 2 inch, but 2 inch may not be enough. Once you have the body on insulators and the transmission cab floor cover bolted on, you need to check the clearance between the cover and the top of the trans cover to ensure you have enough clearance. I try to have 1/4 to 3/8 clearance to avoid the cab/trans knock.

In the image you'll also note there is a 1/4 x 4 inch wide plate. I installed those where the cab floor above the insulators are a little weak from rust. The plate takes the "G" force of the door jam preventing weakening of the floor area.

As a final note after you fell things are right, check the line between hood and cowl to ensure it looks straight, you may need to make adjustments to the insulators.

The harder the material, the more drive train noise transfer to the cab.
