Is it a compression spring or one of the release lever springs in the cover? Some possible causes:

- Loose bell housing,
- Loose or warped flywheel,
- Loose cover,
- Worn or sticking throw-out bearing sleeve,
- Worn crankshaft pilot, clutch fork flange, bell housing bushings,
- Flywheel that has been improperly resurface (surfaced on on angle). Look at the clutch disk step down area on the flywheel to see if it is the same all around.)
