if you are talking about the arrow gear ftd=7 10 bolt pto on the sweptline w series trucks, it was controlled by a morse cable to engage or disengage, the control was usually just left rear of the transmission hump on the floor of the cab, you pull up to engage and push down to disengage, you use the t-case in neutral and control winch direction and speed with transmission gears.
